Die Erfolgsgeschichte des VW Golf ist beeindruckend. Seit das erste Modell im Jahr 1974 die heimische Produktionsstätte verlassen hat, erfreut sich das Modell noch immer großer Beliebtheit. Dabei ist das Geheimnis des Erfolgs simpel: denn die Alltagstauglichkeit und die guten Fahrleistungen des VW Golf überzeugen seit nunmehr über 30 Jahren eine Vielzahl von Kunden. Bereits seit der ersten Golf-Generation an werden mehrere Versionen angeboten, zum Beispiel der Pickup Golf Caddy, der sportliche GTI oder das Golf Cabrio, das bis 1993 nahezu unverändert bleibt. Im Jahr 1983 erblickt die zweite Baureihe das Licht der Öffentlichkeit und erfreut die Kunden erstmals mit ABS. Der Golf III erobert 1991 den Automarkt und überrascht mit einer Vielzahl von optischen und technischen Veränderungen. Das Topmodell der dritten Generation ist der VR6 mit einer Leistung von 190 PS. Der Golf IV löst 1997 das Vorgängermodell ab und wartet unter anderem als Diesel-Version mit einem neu entwickelten TDI-Motor auf. Im Jahr 2003 wird erstmals das aktuellste Modell, der Golf V, vorgestellt. Das Topmodell dieser Baureihe ist der 250 PS starke R32, der über einen permanenten Allradantrieb (4Motion) verfügt. Schade, dass der neue Golf nicht mehr stadt-tauglich ist: Bei der geringen Bodenfreiheit und der noch verlängerten Gesamt-Länge findet man im beruflichen Einsatz in der Regel keinen Parkplatz mehr. Ich muß mich also um einen neuen Stadt-Wagen kümmern. more
