Zusätzlich ist das zwischen 5.3 und 6.3 Meter lange Fahrzeug der erste große Pickup, der sich die Bezeichnung Top Safety Pick des IHS verdient hatte. Denn eine riesige Palette an Sicherheitsfeatures nimmt den zukünftigen Besitzern eine Last ab und garantiert ein nahezu sorgenfreies Fahren. Von dem teilweise sperrbaren Differenzial, dem Auto LSD, über die Stabilitätskontrolle VSC bis hin zur Traktionskontrolle und elektronischen Bremskraftverteilung verfügt das Nutzfahrzeug bereits über zuverlässige Sicherheitselemente. Features wie der Bremsassistent, ABS und Hecktürassistent sowie Front-, Seiten und Vorhangairbags runden das Sicherheitsprogramm ab. Der Toyota Tundra ist in 31 verschiedenen Konfigurationen lieferbar – in drei Pritschenlängen, drei Führerhausausführungen, vier Radständen sowie zwei Getriebearten. Eine neue Doppelkabine ersetzt in der aktuellen zweiten Generation das alte verlängerte Führerhaus.
