Das Coupé Celica Supra (MK 1) erlebt sein Debüt im Jahr 1979. Bereits drei Jahre später wird die neue Generation MK 2 mit einem 170 PS starken 2.8 Liter großen Einspritzmotor präsentiert. Im Jahr 1986 verlässt der Toyota Celica Supra MK3 erstmals das Band und ist mit einem 3.0 Liter-Sechszylindermotor mit Turbolader ausgestattet. Bevor 1993 die vierte Baureihe MK 4 des Sportwagens vorgestellt wird, erhalten die Toyota Supra-Modelle einen Leistungsschub in Form eines TwinTurbo-Motors: Zwei sequentiell geschaltete Turbo-Aggregate verhelfen dem Motor zu einer Top-Leistung von 280 PS. Der letzten Baureihe gelingt sogar der Sprung auf 320 PS, ehe die Produktion des Toyota Supra in Deutschland im Jahr 1997 und weltweit 1999 eingestellt wird.
