Im Jahr 1988 löst der Opel Vectra den Ascona ab. Die erste Generation mit dem Namen Opel Vectra A wird bis 1995 gebaut, die zweite Baureihe des Mittelklassewagens läuft bis 2002 vom Band. Unter der Bezeichnung Opel Vectra C wird aktuell die dritte Generation produziert. Das Modell ist als Stufenheck-Limousine, Fließheck (GTS) sowie als Kombi namens Caravan lieferbar. Die Motorenpalette des Vectra reicht von 71 PS starken Benzinern bis hin zu einem Diesel mit 204 PS. Via Schaltgetriebe oder Automatik wird die Kraft der Motoren übertragen. Für Freunde von Sportwagen ist der Opel Vectra OPC (Opel Performance Center) ein Geheimtipp: Dank des 280 PS starken 2.8 Liter V6-Turbos beschleunigt das Modell in nur 6.3 Sekunden auf Tempo 100.
