Wenn sich eine Automarke nach dem 16. Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika - Abraham Lincoln - benennt, kann das verschiedene Gründe haben. Bei der 1917 gegründeten Lincoln liegt es klar auf der Hand. Als Marke für gehobene Fahrzeugklassen benutzen die US-amerikanischen Politiker seit jeher die Modelle gern als Staatskarossen und genießen die Vorzüge der Luxussparte des Ford-Konzerns. Lincoln gilt als Synonym für Luxus, Komfort und Design und sogar als preisgekrönte Marke. Erst in kürzester Zeit kürte das amerikanische Institut für Sicherheit auf Straßen das Mittelklassemodell Lincoln MK als eines der sichersten Fahrzeuge in seinem Sektor.

Doch auch die übrige Modellpalette kann sich sehen lassen. Das Mittelklasse-SUV MKX gilt ebenso als Synonym für die innovativen Ambitionen der US-amerikanischen Marke wie der für 2010 geplante MKZ. Mit keinem geringeren Anspruch als ‚purem Luxus in Lichtgeschwindigkeit' soll der Mittelklassewagen die Straßen dieser Welt erobern. Doch auch in der Vergangenheit machten absolute Spitzenmodelle von sich Reden. Seit teilweise mehr als 60 Jahren bestimmen Luxuskarossen wie die Lincoln Continental Limousine oder das Lincoln Continental Mark II bis VIII Coupé die Automobilwelt.

Der Lincoln - unverwechselbar dank Wasserfallgrill

Typisches Designermerkmal der Oldtimer war das auf dem Kofferraumdeckel stilisierte (aber gar nicht vorhandene) Reserverad. Heute ziert der Wasserfallgrill nach dem Vorbild des Rolls Royce der 1960er und 1970er Jahre einen jeden Lincoln. Die US-amerikanische Luxusmarke glänzt bis heute durch ihre lange Tradition. Natürlich hat sie sich diese zunutze gemacht und legt die Erfahrungen der ganzen Jahre in ihre Modelle, die dadurch weit mehr als nur einen Hauch elegantem Design, hochwertiger Technik und unnachahmlichem Komfort haben.
