Die Übersetzung der Automarke „Daewoo“ klingt wahrhaft kosmisch – das „große Weltall“ bedeutet der Name des koreanischen Unternehmens in deutscher Sprache. Obwohl die kosmisch großen Erfolge in Europa bisher nicht verbucht werden konnten, hat der Name doch seine Berechtigung. Immerhin ist das Unternehmen heute in Segmente wie Daewoo International, Daewoo Engineering & Construction sowie Daewoo Corporation aufgeteilt. Dahinter verbergen sich Segmente wie die Stahlverarbeitung, der Schiffbau oder auch das Finanzgeschäft.

Der Daewoo heute

Der Automobilhersteller Daewoo Motors ist heute eine vollständige Tochterfirma von General Motors. Zusätzlich werden seit Februar alle Daewoo-Modelle in Europa unter dem Namen Chevrolet vertrieben.
